Job Description
Under the Compliance & Smart Operations department, the Regional Control Center Manager oversees the 24/7 operations of the water infrastructure’s nerve center, ensuring seamless coordination between remote monitoring and field execution. This role is responsible for maintaining high system availability, optimizing water distribution efficiency, and leading a team of operators to meet stringent regulatory and safety standards.
Main Tasks
- Lead and supervise a team of Control Center Operators, including scheduling shifts and managing performance.
- Oversee the daily distribution and treatment targets to ensure regional water demand is met.
- Act as the primary escalation point for major system failures, bursts, or emergency operational crises.
- Collaborate with the OT team to ensure SCADA system stability and data integrity across the region.
- Analyze historical operational data to identify trends, system losses, and opportunities for energy optimization.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks and emergency response.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with environmental regulations and health and safety policies.
- Coordinate closely with Maintenance Managers (O&M) to prioritize repairs based on real-time system criticality.
- Conduct regular audits of control room logs and alarm response times to maintain high performance.
- Manage the regional control center budget, including equipment upgrades and specialized training needs.
- Prepare high-level operational reports and KPIs for senior management regarding regional performance.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to manage technical teams in a high-pressure, 24/7 environment.
- Competency in translating organizational goals into daily operational schedules.
- Deep understanding of water network dynamics, pressure management, and leak detection.
- Working knowledge of how SCADA, GIS, and Asset Management systems interact.
- Experience in leading incident response during large-scale utility disruptions.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets to drive operational improvements.
- Skill in coordinating between technical departments and regulatory bodies.
- Must be Oman resident
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Water Resource Management.
Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years in water utility operations or a similar industrial process environment. At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role specifically involving control room or SCADA-based operations
